MAXXI1, Rome National center for art and architecture

The winning design for the MAXXI was that of the Anglo-Iraqi female architect Zaha Hadid.
Hadid created a space full of twists and turns, reminding of Piranesian labyrinths. Her stairways lead upwards through the lobby, disappearing mysteriously into the far recesses of the museum. They finally wind their way to galleries or onto the roof terrace to leave the visitor.

The colors of black, grey and red are very slick and modern combination. Together with the complex lines that the staircase follows they form a very elegant part of Hadid's design and photo of it. The two photos give a great insight in the building but can be purchased also appart.
